The Basis for the Perspective
Shane has led a life that has shown him the best and worst of the people in this world. He's seen strangers play guardian angel or good samaritan conversely he's seen blood discard blood like it was old bathwater. He joined the military out of high school in 2003 so he could "save the world" after witnessing the atrocities that moved so many on September 11, 2001. 3 years later he was looking at a medical retirement for seizures. He then spent 18 months homeless gaining a new perspective. Today he shoots mostly personally driven documentary photography projects that use portrait photography, landscape photography, and a combination of the two to examine what he sees as the symptoms of a struggling world.
Photography as Communication
Shane is surrounded both by natural beauty and interesting people. He uses his camera to document the world and then print images that bring what he finds into focus, often the lives of everyday unfortunate people in his community, with an intent to assist them if possible through the creation of his images. His pictures tell their stories.
